Terms of Service

Last updated 5 July 2026

These terms govern your use of What The Truck, a platform operated by a South African sole proprietor. By using the platform you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.

What we are

What The Truck is a classified-advertising platform that connects buyers and sellers of trucks and heavy/plant equipment. We are a connector only. We are not a party to any sale, we do not hold funds or provide escrow, we do not inspect or guarantee any item, seller, or buyer, and any transaction is concluded directly between the parties (typically off-platform, e.g. via WhatsApp). You deal with other members at your own risk.

Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 18 and able to enter a binding contract. Keep your account secure; you are responsible for activity under it. Sign-in is provided via Google or a passwordless email link.

Seller obligations

If you list an item you confirm you have the right to sell it, that it is lawful to sell, and that your listing is accurate and not misleading. You are responsible for your listings, prices, and dealings with buyers.

Subscriptions and billing

Sellers pay a monthly subscription to host adverts. Pricing is shown in the app (a founding-member period may be free). Paid subscriptions, once live, are billed through our payment provider (Paystack), recur until cancelled, and are governed by the pricing shown at sign-up. Buyers browse for free.

Acceptable use

You must follow our Acceptable Use Policy. In short: post only lawful, accurate content; do not defraud, harass, spam, or harvest other members' contact details.

Your content

You keep ownership of the content you post. You grant us a licence to host and display it on the platform for the purpose of operating the service. You are responsible for your content and must have the rights to it.

Our intellectual property

The platform, its design, and its software are our property. You may not copy, scrape, reverse-engineer, or resell any part of the platform.

Disclaimers and liability

The platform is provided "as is" without warranties. We do not warrant the accuracy of listings or the conduct of members. To the maximum extent permitted by law, and subject to the Consumer Protection Act where it applies, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of the platform or dealings with other members.

You indemnify us against claims arising from your content or your breach of these terms.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend or remove accounts or content that breach these terms or the law. You may close your account at any time.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and the South African courts have jurisdiction.
